1. Concrete and Metal Buildings
Most modern mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) terminals use cellular SIM cards to process transactions. If your restaurant, bar, or retail unit is located on the ground floor of a modern concrete building, or inside an old building with thick stone walls, the cellular signal from the mast outside cannot penetrate the structure.
2. Congestion at Events
If you operate a food van or market stall at a busy event, your card machine will compete with thousands of smartphones trying to connect to the same local mobile mast. When the mast gets congested, data speeds plummet, and your card machine’s transaction request simply times out.
3. The Single-Network Trap
If your card machine provider shipped the device with a standard EE or Vodafone SIM, you are entirely reliant on that specific network’s local coverage. If you take your mobile card machine to a rural client’s house where Vodafone has no signal, you cannot take the payment.
The Multi-Network Fix
To ensure your card machine never drops a sale, it must be equipped with an unsteered multi-network SIM from Anywhere SIM.
